My first record company gig, thanks to Adrian Sykes who is still a very close friend today and a fountain of music knowledge. Together we helped give MCA Records 12 Top 40 UK hits from the dance, soul roster in just 12 months after years of nothing much happening.
First off, my personal expertise is dance radio. I have worked in dance radio for over 30 years. Two of my success stories are still on the BBC Radio 1 schedule every week now after more than 20 years, Pete Tong, whom I managed for 20 years and the Essential Mix show which I created and produced for 8 years.
These are people I've admired over the years for their artistry or sense of self purpose. Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones, Lonnie Liston Smith, Donna Summer, Lamont Dozier, Diana Ross, Lionel Richie, Earl Young and Maurice White (Earth Wind & Fire) all of whom I met in person and worked with.
"There are certain things, events, companies and especially people who have shaped the dance music world that we DJs (and the music listening public) know and love. Without these historical contributing factors, the importance of dance music in our lives may not be as profound, the radio we listen to could be lacklustre at best and the current digital dynamic for music distribution and sales would not be as elevated. I could list contributing individuals on just two hands - and one of those people is Eddie Gordon."
"KINGS OF SPINS began life in July 2003 as DJinTheMix with staff in the USA & Europe.
Eddie Gordon's DJ-In-The-Mix digital music promotion platform Threatens Vinyl's Future.
Eddie Gordon (Music 2 Mix) predicted this on a DMS panel more than five years ago to an almost dismissive audience..

Atlantic Records
One of my proudest career moments was working for one of my favorite labels - the mighty Atlantic Records from New York. I made my mark in spectacular fashion by breaking one of the US company's brand new major acts in the UK before they had their debut record released in the USA. That act was En Vogue and the song was "Hold On". More info under the photos of En Vogue etc..
